The Assam Public Service Commission came into existence on Ist April, 1937 in accordance with the provision of the Govt. of India Act, 1935 with Mr James Hezelett, a retired ICS officer from London, as its first Chairman.

Qualification : - For Registrar : M.D. (Medicine/Radiology/Nuclear Medicine) or M.D. (Radiotherapy) or M.D. (Paediatrics) or M.S. (Surgery) or M.S. (E.N.T) or M.S. (Orthopaedics) or M.D. (Obst. & Gynae) or DNB (Nuclear Medicine).

For  Assistant Professor : D.M. (Medical Oncology) / M.D. (Medicine) or M.D. (Radiotherapy) or M.D. (Paediatrics) with 2 years special training in Medical Oncology or M.Ch. (Surgical Oncology)/M.S (Surgery) / or M.S. (E.N.T) or M.S (Orthopaedics) or M.D. (Obst. & Gynae) with 2 years special training in Surgical Oncology.

Age Limit : - For Registrar : 25 to 43 Years
For  Assistant Professor : 21 to 43 Years. As on 03.03.2016.
