North-Eastern Hill University was set up by an Act of Parliament and notified on 19th July 1973. The objectives of the University, as laid down in the act, are "to disseminate and advance knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities in such branches of learning as it may deem fit; to pay special attention to the improvement of the social and economic conditions and welfare of the people of the hill areas of the North-eastern region, and in particular, the intellectual, academic and cultural advancement".

Qualification : - For Lower Division Clerk : Passed 12th/Intermediate or its equivalent from a recognized Board/University with A typing speed of 35 (thirty five) words per minute. Proficiency in Computer Application with knowledge in MS Office.
For Stenographer : 12th/ Intermediate or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Board or University and Must possess a speed of 80 w.p.m. in shorthand and 30 w.p.m. in typing.
For Data  Entry Operator : Graduate in any discipline with knowledge in Data Entry and Word processing from a recognized Institute.
For Section Officer, Assistant & Private Secretary : Graduate in any stream from a recognized University/Institute.
For Computer Operator : Graduate in any stream from a recognized University/Institute with DCA from a recognized Institute/University.
For Driver : 10th/Matriculation in possession of valid driving License in Light and Heavy Vehicles or its equivalent.

Age Limit : - For Private Secretary, Data Entry Operator, Stenographer, Lower Division Clerk & Driver : Maximum 30 Years. 
For Assistant, Computer Operator & Section Officer : Maximum 40 Years. As on 26.10.2015.
Age relaxation is as per Govt. norms.
Job Profile : - Lower Division Clerk, Stenographer, Data Entry Operator & Various Posts
Job Location : - Shilong, Meghalaya 

Application Fee : - General/OBC candidates have to pay Rs. 300/- and Rs. 150/- for SC/ST/PH candidates through University Challan.
