Haryana Staff Selection Commission (earlier Subordinate Services Selection Board) is constituted as per the proviso of Article 309 of constitution of India, vide Haryana Government Notification No.523-3GS-70/2068, dated 28.01.1970. Through it was granted statutory status of Haryana Staff Selection Commission vide Haryana Govt. Gazette Notification dated 28.02.2005.

Qualification : - For Steno-Typist : Passed 10+2/ Intermediate with 1st Division /Graduation or its equivalent from a recognized board/university and English shorthand at a speed of 80 words per minute and transcription at a speed of 15 words per minute and mistakes should not exceed 8% OR Hindi Shorthand at a speed of 64 words per minute and transcription at a speed of 11 words per minute and mistakes should not exceed 8%.

For Junior Scale Stenographer : Passed 10+2/Intermediate 1st Division /Graduation or its equivalent from a recognized board/university and English Shorthand at ar speed of 100 words per minute and transcription at a speed of 20 words per minute and mistakes should not exceed 8% OR Hindi Shorthand at a speed of 80 words per minute and transcription at a speed of 15 words per minute and mistakes should not exceed 8%

For Foresters : Intermediate in Arts/science or 10+2 in Science Group /Art / Commerce of its equivalent from a recoginzed University, Board provided he has passed matriculation or its equivalent examination with science/ General science as one of the Subjects and Knowledge of Hindi/ sanskrit upto Matric or Higher education.
