Sashastra Seema Bal was established as Special Service Bureau in May 1963, in the aftermath of the Chinese aggression (in 1962). Sashastra Seema Bal came under aegis of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Jan 2001). SSB was declared a Lead Intelligence Agency for Indo Nepal (June 2001) and assigned the Indo Nepal border. Later, SSB was also assigned Indo Bhutan border (March 2004). In March 2004, SSB received the President’s Colours (March 2004) in recognition of the keystone role in national security, since its inception.

Qualification : - For SI (Staff Nurse) Posts : Passed Intermediate/ 10+2 with Science or its equivalent from a recognized University/ Board with  Should be in possession of three years Diploma in General Nursing from an Institution recognized by the Central Government or State Government and Must be registered with Central or State Nursing Council.

For Assistant Sub-Inspectors Posts : Passed Intermediate/ 10+2 with science or its equivalent from a recognized Board/ Institution with Should be in possession of Degree or Diploma in Pharmacy from an institution of Central Government.

For Head Constable Posts: Passed 10th/ Matriculation from a recognized Board/ School and Should be in possession of Diploma or certificate in Catering Kitchen management from a reputed institute.

For Constable Posts : Passed 10th/ Matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized board with Two years Diploma from recognized Industrial Training Institute/ ITI in the trade or similar trade or One year certificate course from a recognized ITI or Vocational Institute with at least one year experience in the trade or Two years work experience in respective trades.

For Assistant Sub-Inspectors Posts : 20 to 30 years
For Head Constable Posts : 18 to 25 years
For Constable Posts : 18 to 23 years. As on the last date of receipt of application.
