Junior public service commission, the precursor of the Punjab Public Service Commission(PPSC), with its writ running from the Khyber pas to the Jamuna near Delhi, was born at Lahore on May, 1937. In the wake of the partition, the Punjab public service commission resurged in February, 1948, at Shimla with its revised jurisdiction extending over the then Provence of east Punjab following the merger of the state of Punjab and Pepsu.

Qualification : - For Programmer : First Class B.E./B Technology in Computer Engineering /Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent or First Class M.E./M Technology in Computer Engineering /Computer Science/ Information Technology or equivalent or First Class MCA Degree. Punjabi upto Matric or its equivalent standard.

For Lecturer : Good Academic record with at least 55% marks or, an equivalent CGPA at the Master degree level, in relevant from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from a Foreign University and National Eligibility Test (NET) for Lecturers conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC. And First Class Degree in Bachelor of Technology in relevant with Punjabi upto Matric or its equivalent Standard.

For Librarian : First Class M. Lib Science Degree or First Class B. Lib Science with five year experience in a library and Punjabi upto Matric or its equivalent Standard.

For Workshop Superintendent : First Class Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Production Engineering/ Industrial Engineering or First Class Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering/ Industrial Engineering with Two years experience in a Workshop/ Industrial Concern of repute and Punjabi upto Matric or its equivalent Standard.
